Random musings

1) Life to you is a bold and dashing responsibility....that is what my fortune cookie said on Thursday night in NYC. Not for the first time both Trixie and I were on the receiving end of accurate fortune cookies at one of our favourite Manhattan eateries. It was particularly timely as it came on the heels of a bold move of mine that seems to be well received.

2) The hills in Ankara make the hills of SF look like little bumps in the road. What a way to have the air sucked from your lungs - but the view makes it worth it

3) There is a calm that comes over me as I walk the streets of Dublin. By the time I got to school this month I was an overstressed wreck and yet walking along St. Stephen's Green on my way to the DART and breathing in the fresh Irish air just gave me such a sense of peace

4) Frankfurt airport is my arch nemisis of airports. It's hot and smelly and difficult to navigate. And the security screeners have all the personality of wood.

5) Speaking of security screeners - those at LaGuardia are entertainment unto themselves. Yesterday, the head screener was singing and sashaying up and down the line. And then she told everyone she loved them. What a gal!

6) Turkish coffee is stroke inducing. Not to mention it's so strong you can stand on it.

7) Efes beer is delish. And cheap. These are important things in a beer.

8) I LOVE walking the streets of Manhattan. Not as serenity inducing as the streets of Dublin but equally soothing in its own loud, brash way.

9) Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman should spend the rest of their careers doing two man plays. And I should be in the audience every night. A Steady Rain was very good and their performances sublime. But the best part of the evening? They took off their shirts and auctioned them off for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. $15,000!

10) Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats spending time with people who make you laugh and think - especially at the same time.
